PFAS Linked to Cancer in Firefighters

YOU MAY QUALIFY TO CLAIM YOUR SHARE OF THIS LAWSUIT!

What is AFFF?

Aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) or firefighting foam " is a highly effective retardant used to extinguish fires caused by flammable liquids such as jet fuel or petroleum. Firefighting foam was manufactured by several companies, including 3M and Dupont.

3M knew for decades that AFFF was dangerous but refused to warn the public. With no warnings or health and safety guidelines from manufacturers, firefighters used varying degrees of PPE and were exposed to varying levels of PFAS.

Why Is AFFF a Health Hazard?

AFFF is usually created by combining foaming agents with fluorinated surfactants. It’s made with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Two PFAS compounds—perfluorooctane acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS)—have been directly linked to cancer and other illnesses.

PFAS can be ingested, absorbed through the skin, or inhaled through exposure in the atmosphere. PFAS can cause cancer of the kidneys, testicles, pancreas, bladder, prostate, breasts, blood, and neuroendocrine system. Other problems associated with exposure include fertility and pregnancy issues, liver damage, increased cholesterol, asthma, thyroid disease, and more.

I've been exposed to PFAS and now I'm sick. What should I do?

AFFF manufacturers raked in massive profits for decades by knowingly selling dangerous products that would expose firefighters to cancer risks. If you’ve been exposed to PFAS in firefighting foam and have gotten ill, you may be eligible for compensation.
